Steven Zopfi directs the Portland Symphonic Choir in their seasonal celebration of many lands. Songs of the season are performed by the city's oldest community choir, the Portland Symphonic Choir. Highlighted work is the Britten Ceremony of Carols with harp accompaniment. Other well-known carols will be accompanied by brass ensemble. It's a wonderful way to begin the holiday season! Portland Center Stage Presents: No story speaks to our longing for charity at the holiday season as poignantly as Charles Dickens’ classic tale of greed and redemption. In this new adaptation by PCS Director of Literary & Education Programs Mead Hunter, we return to the original source and pull out all the stops – big sets, gorgeous costumes, original music combined with traditional holiday favorites, real children and a crusty old miser whose heart turns to putty when he’s shown the true meaning of Christmas. A holiday treat for the entire family.

Portland Symphonic Girl Choir Presents: Girlchoir’s youngest artists in Prelude Singers, Debut and Intermezzo Choirs present an enchanting program of holiday favorites, including Mary’s Little Boy Child, Hanarot Halalu and Zol Zain Sholem sung in Yiddish, Chatter With The Angels, Arrullo from “Canciones De Los Ninos” sung in Spanish, Fanga Alafia from Liberia, plus Bernstein’s Gloria Tibi from “MASS”, and Solomon Grundy and She Shall Have Music from Nick Page’s Nursery Rhyme Cantata creating Holiday Magic.

Today, his enchanting vision of Marie and the Nutcracker Prince and their thrilling journey to the candy-coated realm of the Sugarplum Fairy is famous the world over and has been a New York City Christmas tradition for more than 50 years. Make your own holiday memories this December. Come see our annual stockingful of whirling snowflakes, dancing candy canes and waltzing flowers. OBT’s full company of dancers and more than 100 students from our school provide the seasonal cheer.
